Interview with Amy
Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Amy: After a trip to SeaWorld as a child, I wanted to be a marine biologist and work with sea animals for a long time. As I grew older, I wanted to be a teacher, and I often loved to play "pretend school" with friends. After working with children with special needs as a camp counselor in high school, I finally had the idea to become a nurse and that's what led me to where I am today.
Q. What advice do you have for new parents?
Amy: I would tell new parents to be easy on themselves. Take things one day at a time and you will learn as you go along. Babies don't come with a manual so there is no right or wrong way to care for a baby and raise a child. Just know that you are doing the best you can and that many of the big decisions you are stressing about now, will seem like small trivial things ten years down the road. Also, noise machines are great investments to help the baby sleep AND parents sleep!
Q. What is something on your bucket list?
Amy: I would love to travel to Australia and snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef.
Q. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Amy: Mint chocolate chip!
Q. Who is your favorite Superhero and why?
Amy: I'm really not familiar with many superheroes to be able to pick my favorite so I'm going to pick out of the box and pick Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. She is brilliant, brave, and advocates for those in need around her. Also, she fights against adversity, bullying, and discrimination all while being quick-witted, clever and a very loyal friend. Lastly, her love of reading is often the trait that most benefits her and others in the most dire situations. She is a superhero everyone can look up to!
